Two mintue film trailer plan.

These images are off our two mintue film trailer. Within this plan we have included a variety of camera angles, shots and locations.
We have been able to include an establishing shot which shall be off  the school that they attend, which follows by a shot of each girl being a close up and for this we shall be using a split scene technique.
Then we are introduced to the victim of which the group of girls bully. Then we have an extreme close up of the victim after she has been hurt and crying with a shot containing the three girls in the background.
Then we are followed with a shot of them bullying the girl more each day to the a shot of which the victim has killed herself.
After the tradegdy of the young girls death we are taken back to the school of which shows how the school has turned against the three girls and how they are the most hated at the school.

We shall be including both diegetic and non-diegetic sounds, which shall be backing music and dialouge which  shall link in within our scene to make it more interesting and catching towards our target audience. We will be using phrases of dialouge of which will interact with the target audience we have chosen.

Plans for our film magazine and film poster.

This image shows our idea's in which we have suggested for both film poster and our film magazine.

Both are similar as the cover of each shall include each three main characters.

Both of these two image shows two different layouts of our film poster. The first image shows a rough layout of how the poster would look being at a  landscape layout. This poster shows the titles at the top i.e. actors who are starring within the film, the three characters in the centre but used across the whole page and then the film title placed at the bottom of the poster.

For this film poster we chose to plan it portait, This would look different to the a landscpae poster as it would be more square based but more pushed together.                                             By planning the film poster in both ways it has given us two different choices, i like the landscape layout as it is different and not many film posters are used this way accept as bilboards. Yet the portrait layout looks more realsistic and could be much bolder and stronger looking when targeting the target audience.

Final Film Idea

This is our final film idea. We decided to contribute together two film ideas which will make the genre of our film social realism, we decided on linking together idea one which was a story of mean girls and how they bully linked with idea 4 on gangs and killing. These linked together will work well and add tension, yet we will add another twist which shall be making the rest of the school/ year group hate the three popular girls. We have also  written down the information of our film narrative and the use of locations, characters, costume, camera angles and extra techniques we shall involve.

Initial Film Ideas

We came up with four basic film ideas. We decided on idea number one, even though it is very similar to the real mean girls movie we have decided to change the genre and storyline.

Film Genre Trailers.

Thriller

Paranormal Activity 4:-
The purpose of this film trailer is to promote the genre of film which is thriller. This is shown through the elements of jumpiness used, they have incorporated these clips into the trailer so that it makes the audience feel at edge but as it also helps to attract its target audience of 17- 25 year olds, this is due to the storyline and genre of film.
The narrative of the film trailer is shown firstly by beginning with the previous storyline in smaller elements and then continuing with a teenage girl talking to her mother on how when the new neighbour have moved in that everything has become weird, this then links onto her being on face-time to her boyfriend showing him the toddler stood outside her house and then the lights are mysteriously switched of and a women is shadowed behind her and then the camera goes fuzzy leaving you as the audience in suspense.
Within this film trailer there are no famous stars included in Paranormal Activity 4.
The editing throughout this film trailer are a variety of fast paced cuts which open the trailer but then as we get to the narrative of this trailer the cuts become a slower pace until leading up to the footage of the girl on Face-time to her boyfriend which then they use a fuzzy technique used to add in the thriller genre and also they re-use the fast paced cuts to give the audience an adrenaline rush this is ended when the screen turns black leaving the audience questioning and wanting to see more.
The dialogue used is informal, this is shown from how the girl describes the weirdness of what has been happening in her environment since the new neighbours have moved in, we see this when she speaks to her mum and boyfriend. The dialogue is informal and this links into everyday life, but shows an non in depth meaning towards the meaning of the film.
The camera angles used throughout the film trailer is consisted of close ups and extreme close ups , mid-shots and point of view shots. these various camera angles allow the audience to be aware of what is happening and feel part of the film, they also help to add the thriller effect towards the film.
There are seven titles included within the film trailer, each are shown on a black background with white writing, the font and style of writing used is the style used on a type writer.
There is no voice over in Paranormal Activity 4.
There is no background music in the film trailer but there is diegetic noises used such as slamming door flickered lights and the locking system.
The climax of the trailer is when the girl is on face-time to her boyfriend and the strange things start happening. The climax then takes places as the girl gets taken by the darkened shadow/figure behind her and we as the audience are left unknowing.
There are seven characters used within this film trailer. There is also fifty four cuts used throughout this trailer and they have also used fourteen different locations of filming.

Comedy

Step Brothers:-
The purpose of this film trailer is to promote the comedy side of the film to an active and passive audiences. The trailer also includes funny elements throughout the trailer which helps to establish the target audience of 17-25 year olds, this is from the situations that they talk about and show they are in. By watching the trailer we can already see how the film links into the comedy genre.
The narrative of the film Step Brothers is how two grown mens parent fall in love, get married and move in together. At first the two men hate each other and all they do is fight but throughout they soon become the best of friends, this is from helping each other out in a time of need.
The stars in Step Brothers are Will Ferrell and John C Riley, these both play the role of the brothers.
The editing in this film trailer is a variety of slow paced cuts this represents how there is no official climax as there is no fast paced cuts to create a climax to make the audience feel a tension or anxiety.
The dialogue in the film is once again in formal as they use rude language, rude subjects and they way in which they speak to both each other and within their interview, this shows their immaturity levels and how they do not act their age.
The camera angles in the film trailer consists of establishing shots, long shot, mid shot and close ups. this shows you strange facial expressions and allows you to tell you to laugh.
The titles in the film trailer consists of a blue background and white writing.
There is no voice over in the trailer.

Promotional Package for Twilight.

Twilight is a world wide film which consits of four stories, before entering the film industry Twilight was originally a book written by American author Stephenie Meyer. Even though the film is an American film one of the main characters 'Edward Cullen' is an British actor. While being a worldwide film it has a huge fan base in each country which ranges on a various of ages. Twilight films are not just promoted and advertisted through television, radio, internet and books but it has also got its own range of merchandise which consists of the following, Keyrings, Mugs, pens, Bags, stationary, Tops, Jumpers, drink bottes, lunch boxes, christmas advent calendars, beding, calendars for the year. Not only does twilight sell alot or merchandise, because of the narrative within the film between Bella, Edward and Jacob and how the boys fight over Bella for her love and devotion, the promotional industry came up with an idea of creating a 'Team Edward' and 'Team Jacob'. By creating this it gatehrs fans to purchase more merchandise by buying special team gifts.
Buy films such as Twilight having an extra promotional package it helps them increase on profits so that when making the next film it can be made much better and in a better detail so that fans can become more crazy.
Even though Twilight itself promotes very well it is also promoted through their fans by them purchasing merchandise but also how some fans create a blog updating about the stars and inside information or their feelings towards the film, this has also been shown through youtube with fans creating videos, such as one American fan posted a video on youtube of themself crying when they found out about the real life couple 'Bella who is Kristen Stewart' and 'Edward' Robert Patterson splitting up as Kristen cheated on Rob with the producer of the film. With fans creating pages and videos it just shows how effective the film has on people and how some people build a life around the film.

Sweeney Todd Film poster

The purpose of this film poster is to promote the film "Sweeney Todd', which stars Johnny Depp. It is also used to show its target audience which is men from the age group of 20-30 year olds, the film poster is aged to this target audience as it is mainly aimed towards men, this is from colours used as they are very plain and dull but brightened from the baby blue colour which promotes the title of the magazine 'Entertainment', the colours used also link in well with the image used as it is very dark and subtle yet the Johnny Depps eyes are showing that he is a strong independant character that shows no fear. This image also help to show the target audience as if the target audience were women the image of Johnny Depp would be more sexy and maybe reveal flesh that would catch a womens eye and have writing that is flirtatious were as this magazine targets men as the writing used on the cover is very bold making it easier for men to read but also very plain and simple.
The film poster shows that the film genre is a historical thriller film. This is shown through the mise-en scene as the characters hair is very wild and links well with the clothing as it is from an older era and shows how the character is of a poorer class, also the make-up on the character has been used to make his face very pale with darkened eyes this also links in well with other techniques used creating a creepy atmosphere and representing the genre.
The masthead of the magazine has been used in a light blue and very bold making it stand out. The masthead has been placed on top of the cover photo but sometimes the masthead is placed under the cover photo, with the masthead being underneath this represents how the character of Sweeney Todd maybe hidden from society.
Although this film magazine is very bland and plain it does contain small cover lines on other famous actors of which are talked about within this magazine, this has been used in a small font and writing in white to contrast with the grey, dull background.
'Entertainment' film magazine is different to other american film magazines as it comes out each week rather than monthly compared to 'Total Film' magazine' which is issued out every month.
The unique selling point of this magazine would be the famous person which for this week would be 'Johnny Depp'. He is the selling point as he is well known and is loved by the audience worldwide for his unique humour and characters. Johnny has starred in a variety of films such as child films such as cartoons and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to films of a comedy genre such as Pirates of the Caribbean and then to serious musical films such as Edward Scissor Hands and Sweeney Todd in which he is representing and promoting in this film magazine.

St. Trinians

One of the purpose of St.Trinains trailer is to represent and promote the film to a target audience of 13-17 year old girls. This is shown by the pink background used to promote the title and cast/ characters which star within the film, they have used this due to the female appearance throughout the film and how the story is based on an all girl school. The colour pink has also been used from the paintballs thrown at the enemies coach. From this event taking place you are able to see that the girls are very dominate and feisty, although they can be shown very strong and rough they take pride in their appearance by wearing make-up and nicely groomed hair, this works well with their uniform as it is very unique and fashionable which makes the target audience idolise them and wishing to go to a school like St. Trinians. Another purpose of the film is its genre which is comedy, this is shown through what the girls say e.g. "Your only supposed to blow the bloody door off." this suggest elements of comedy and it is also shown through the pranks that the girls pull on the new girl such as turning the water to cold whilst she is in the shower and leaving her without a towel or clothes so running back to the dorm  yet along the way she runs into a door, yet near the end they convert her into one of them.

The narrative of the film trailer represents how St. trinians goes from being "The worst school in the country" whilst in debt with the bank which makes them to nearby closing down. Throughout the trailer it shows how the students and teachers work together creating a variety of ideas in which  they are able to keep the school from closing but also are able to get money to help them survive.

Within the film trailer it includes a variety of stars such as:

  • Russell Brand- who plays the handy man of dispatching the produced gifts of which the girls have made, but also he helps to come up with a plan to help the school survive.
  • Colin Firth- who plays the prime minister and is wanting to change the school around so it can uphold a good reputation.
  • Rupert Everett- Who plays the role of the new girls dad and also the role of the headmistress.
  • Stephen Fry- Who plays the part of the t.v. host named quiz master in the school challenge.
  • Gemma Arterton- who plays the role of head girl and comes up with the idea of stealing the famous picture.

In the film trailer there is a variety of cuts, splits scenes, blackouts and pyrotechnics used to show a various clips/ scenes from the film to interest the target audience. Using a variety of editing techniques helps give the film trailer an extra thrill and make the audience question what shall happen next? by including these techniques it will make the target audience want to go and see the film in cinema.

There is also a various amount of camera angles used in the film trailer such as an establishing shot to show where the school is but also the establishing shot is used when they reach London, this is used to show where they are. Point of view shot is used when the girls are looking outside the window to watch the explosion, the point of view shot also helps to include the audience and create a feeling of what it would be like if they were actually there. The use of a close up in the film is used to show expression on each characters face it could either be happy, sad or show fear. they also use a close up shot to show the famous picture of which they steal. They have included a long shot within the film trailer, this is used to show the main characters of school girls when walking into the museum, this helps create a climax and make the audience feel like they want to be them.

There is eight titles included throughout the film trailer, they are represented by using a pink background with black writing this is again to link back to the target audience but also to the girl dominance. The last title is a billing block which is appeared on a pink background with white writing and produced at the end of the film trailer.

The non- diegetic music creates a climax throughout the trailer, this is from the different music used such as at the beginning it is used slowly but creepy to create an atmosphere in which that would link well to the opening of the film on how St. Trinians is the worst school in the country. When there are elements of comedy throughout the film the music changes to a more upbeat vibe this element shows how the film is a comedy and is a comedy genre. The non- diegetic music is still played throughout but made quieter than the dialogue used but links well to show the elements of fun which they have throughout the film. The diegetic music used such as the explosion makes it more realistic and creates a felling that you are there, such as when the new girl hits her head on the door you hear her slip and hit the door.

The number of settings shown in St.Trinians film trailer is twenty eight different locations. By using this many it makes the film look more interesting and adventurous then filming in one specific locations.

Throughout the film trailer of St.Trinians there is a variety of characters mostly being the young school girls including famous people but they have also used exception of four men who are famous, this is used to help make people want to see the film even more.

The film trailer includes a hundred and thirteen cuts, they are used to create more tension with in the film and keep the audience hooked, some cuts are faster then other which link in with the non-diegetic music which creates a better climax throughout.
